30 Easy Christmas Origami

Looking for a fun paper craft to make over the Holidays? Try folding one of these festive origami projects.

Not only are they cost-effective (they cost practically nothing to make) but they also look fantastic.

All you need is some origami paper, scissors, a dash of glue and some ribbon and you’ll have your very own handmade paper Christmas decorations.

Use them to decorate your gifts, hang them on the tree, string them up as a garland or prop them up on the fireplace.

Christmas Origami.

‘Tis the season! It’s time to put up the tree (if you haven’t already) and get busy making some DIY Christmas decorations. I’ve rounded up 30 of my favourite Christmas Origami tutorials and I’m excited to share two of my favourite things, Christmas and papercrafts.

I absolutely love origami and I love a good Christmas craft so of course, Christmas Origami was always going to be a winning combination in my eyes. Over the years I’ve tried so many different crafts but somehow I always come back to paper. It’s such a fun and versatile material.

I’ve tried to include something for everyone. There are some simple projects for the younger kids (and the complete origami beginner) and a few that are a bit more complicated for anyone that fancies more of a challenge.

The Best Origami Paper.

As most of these projects require only paper (sometimes scissors, a little glue and some pens to decorate) it makes them cheap as chips to make and a super affordable and fantastic way to decorate for the holiday season.

Although I recommend using origami paper (you can even get a cute festive version like this one or this one) for any paper folding project, here are a few alternatives that you probably already have on hand.

• Regular Printer Paper,
• Magazines,
• Maps,
• Colouring Book Pages,
• Old Books,
• And Newspapers.

You can use leftover gift wrap so no need to break the bank on store-bought decorations.

What to do with your finished origami models:

• Thread on some ribbon and decorate your Christmas tree with hundreds of hanging origami decorations or as many as you can make anyway 😉
• Grab a wire wreath ring or perhaps one of these faux boxwood ones and cover it in some tiny origami stars.
• Stick to a blank card to make a simple but effective handmade Christmas card.
• Grab a roll of gift wrap and make some giant stars to hang in the window.
• Thread some tiny lucky stars onto some transparent fishing line and make a floating star garland for your tree or mantel.
• Pop them on a gift box or stick to a bottle of wine as a finishing touch.
• Or make a forest of 3D trees to decorate your table on Christmas day.
