You should apply as a first-year student if you are currently a senior in high school or in an early-middle college program. Those who have graduated from high school or completed high school equivalency such as GED but have not earned any college credit after graduating should apply as first-year students as well.

WMU's Early Action Deadline (non-binding) is December 15. Students should apply by this date to be considered for admission to all Western academic programs†, admissions merit scholarships, Medallion scholarship consideration and priority invitation to the Lee Honors College.

†Students interested in Aviation Flight Science or direct admission to the Bronson School of Nursing should visit the Competitive Admission Programs website for details on specific application details and deadlines. Both programs are fall entry only.

Apply as a transfer if you have graduated from high school or earned high school equivalency, such as GED AND have any earned any college credit after high school graduation. Western Michigan University does not use the Common Application for transfer applicants. Find the transfer application at wmich.edu/apply.
